Anderson Ranches
Willamette Valley, OR
Sustainably Raised, Regeneratively Grazed
Reed and Robyn Anderson raise exceptional grass-fed lamb on the vertically integrated 1,000-acre Anderson Ranch, the first Certified Humane Ranch in the USA. The Anderson family has been running animals on this land for five generations.
Blessed with 45–60 inches of annual rainfall and a temperate coastal climate, the Willamette Valley is the grass-seed capital of the world. These perfect growing conditions eliminate the need for supplemental feed. The Anderson’s grass-fed lambs graze on pasture throughout winter into May. Come summer, they forage un-farmed native pine and fir groves. The lambs roam free, eat when they’re hungry, breed on their own and grow according to the rhythms of nature.
Vertically Integrated Ranching
Owning the land, the lamb, and the onsite abattoir, Reed Anderson is a pioneer of sustainable and vertically integrated ranching. The ranch’s on-site processing facility is no more than 10 miles from the pastures where the sheep graze, meaning less stress during the loading, unloading and harvesting process. Anderson lambs are humanely processed at the ranch’s Temple Grandin-designed serpentine ramp abattoir, where the low-stress, Certified Humane experience has a lasting effect on the meat’s texture and flavor.
